In “The Truth About Sugar & Artificial Sweeteners Part 1,” we talked about the dangers of consuming an over abundance of sugar, and how it effects the body negatively. From accelerating diseases such as diabetes, osteoporosis, muscle cramps and twitches, insomnia, causes yeast overgrowth, and compromises our immune system, to name just a few. So in an attempt to substitute sugar for something sweet, the manufactures turn to chemically processed sugar substitutes that are completely foreign to the body. Is the trade off to using regular sugar worth it? Let’s find out as we pick up where we left off in part 1 with “The Truth About Sugar & Artificial Sweeteners Part 2.”
The Truth About Sugar & Artificial Sweeteners Part 2
If sugar is so bad, then perhaps the answer is sweeteners, right? On the contrary! There are many dangers associated with the FDA endorsed Aspartame. It appears to cause slow, silent damage in those unfortunate enough not to have immediate reactions and is a clear reason to avoid it. Animal tests indicate that aspartame caused large brain tumors in life-long experiments at a dose that could be considered within the “Acceptable Daily Intake” limit after adjusting for differences in metabolism of aspartame’s breakdown products between humans and rodents.
Not long after the FDA Commissioner went to work as a consultant for the PR firm of the aspartame manufacturer, FDA Investigator and Toxicologist, Dr. Adrian Gross stated the following:
“In view of all these indications that the cancer-causing potential of aspartame is a matter that had been established way beyond any reasonable doubt, on can ask: What is the reason for the apparent refusal by the FDA to invoke for this food additive the so-called Delaney Amendment to the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act? Is it not clear beyond any shadow of a doubt that aspartame had caused brain tumors or brain cancer in animals, and is this not sufficient to satisfy the provisions of that particular section of the law?
Given that this is so (and I cannot see any kind of tenable argument opposing the view that aspartame causes cancer) how would the FDA justify its position that it views a certain amount of aspartame (50 mg/mg body-weight) as constituting an ADI (Allowable Daily Intake) or “safe” level of it? Is that position in effect not equivalent to setting a “tolerance” for this food additive and thus a violation of that law? And if the FDA itself elects to violate the law, who is left to protect the health of the public?”
The following is a selection of other hazards from long-term use of aspartame. Once these effects are seen clinically, the internal damage has often been done. Removing aspartame from the diet may clear up some of the symptoms but the damage from the breakdown products such as methanol may be permanent. Other symptoms include seizures and convulsions, arthritic and joint pain, chronic fatigue, depression, memory loss, vision damage and loss, tingling in the extremities, slurring of speech, irritability, severe anxiety attacks, menstrual problems, blood sugar control problems, symptoms similar to multiple sclerosis, worsening of fibromyalgia, Parkinson’s tremors, etc., etc. (http:// www.holisticmed.com/aspartame/damage.txt, <page 1 &2>)
Acute toxicity reactions occurring within 48 hours of ingestion of an aspartame-containing product. Chronic toxicity effects occurring anywhere from several days of use to appearing a number of years (i.e., 1-20+ years) after the beginning of aspartame use. The potential toxicity effects are nearly impossible for the user to recognize the link to aspartame.
Sugar continues to be a health risk, and aspartame (Nutrusweet) doesn’t seem to be a beneficial health alternative for anyone. It seems as though to maintain good health, one must give up sugar and sweeteners altogether. Research shows nearly no good uses for sugar or other sweeteners on the market. So most people continue to feed their sweet tooth, and in result, are gambling their health away.
Is there an alternative that is calorie free, and is not harmful for human consumption? The answer is yes, although the FDA has done all they can to keep this knowledge from the American people. Some may consider this sweet substance to be a miracle additive. In part 3 of our short series on sugar and sweeteners, we are going to talk about this safe alternative to sugar and traditional sweeteners.
In an attempt to provide the public with informative truth, in this and other issues on subjects that most Americans no nothing about, I have supplied what I feel vital information concerning your health and awareness. My goal is to inform the public of truth that is not so easily made available to promote a positive difference in the world around me. I hope that this report has accomplished just that.
At the time of this report, there was no information that I was aware of concerning the sweetener “Splenda.” Since then I have been informed that Splenda, contrary to what some say, is a new dangerously approved sweetener.
Don’t let these large companies fool you. There is no magic alternative to sugar when it comes to sweeteners. There are reports from all over the world from people who report being harmed by sucralose.
Here are just a few examples:
Seizures, dizziness and migraines
Blood sugar increases and weight gain
